Innovative Emergency Equine Assistance Initiative Launched
Click Logo for Website
Emergency Equine Assistance ("EEA") is a mutual support network of equestrian people who are both givers and receivers of emergency equine assistance.

Who do you call when...
· Your vehicle breaks down away from home and you need to get your horse home (or to a safe place)?
· You need emergency overnight accommodation for your horse?
· You're injured away from home (eg at a show) and need help with your horses?
· You're at a show, and have a flat tyre, flat battery, have lost a shoe - and just generally need a helping hand?
The EEA aims at putting people in touch with other EEA members who can assist in a variety of equine-related emergency situations. EEA members receive a Phone List of emergency contacts (fellow members) each month. The Phone List, kept in their vehicle, is a source of contacts in equine-related emergency situations.
Companies are welcome to join if they provide 24x7 mobile / call out services.

FEI EUROPEAN DRESSAGE CHAMPIONSHIPS FOR JUNIORS AND YOUNG RIDERS
GERMANY DOMINATES THE MEDAL PODIUM AT KRONBERG
German riders proved unstoppable at the FEI European Dressage Championships for Juniors and Young Riders on their home soil in Kronberg when scooping gold in all six categories of competition. And to further emphasise their absolute domination, they also claimed gold and silver in both the Young Riders Individual and Freestyle Championship. The Netherlands took Junior and Young Rider team silver while Danish riders also featured prominently on the medal podium.
Ann-Kathrin Linsenhoff and the Schafhof in Kronberg, Germany, played host to these Dressage Championships for the third time. The wonderful venue where Ann-Kathrin's mother, Liselott Linsenhoff-Schindling, trained her horse Piaff which won the Olympic gold medal in München 1972, previously staged these Championships in 1980 and 1986. Ann-Kathrin herself competed as a Young Rider in 1981 in Rotterdam when she won team gold and individual bronze, and she proudly and generously opened the gates of the Schafhof to a huge number of talented riders and their horses for this 2010 event from 20 to 25 July.
YOUNG RIDERS
From the outset, Germany convincingly took the lead in the team competitions. Sanneke Rothenberger who won Junior gold medals over the previous two years with two different horses - Paso Doble and Deveraux - opted to go for a new challenge this time around and the 17 year old competed against the Young Riders even though she was still eligible for Junior level. The gamble paid off handsomely as her results were well-planned personal bests and she achieved a mark of 75.158% with Deveraux in the Young Rider team event while Stella Charlott Roth and Diva Royal scored 71.895%, Louisa Luttgen and Habitus scored 71.895% and 20 year old Fabienne Lutkemeier and D'Agostini scored a fabulous 75.316% to secure the team title.
Making her debut on the Dutch team was Danielle van Mierlo, a pupil of Coby van Baalen. She sprang a surprise when best of the Dutch Young Riders silver-medal winning side riding BMC Ucento but Germany won by a margin of almost 10 points while just seven points separated the Danish bronze medallists from their Dutch counterparts.
Lutkemeier was in a class of her own when scooping Young Rider individual gold with D'Agostini ahead of Rothenberger (Deveraux) in silver and Holland's Danielle Van Mierlo in bronze medal position, but the Dutch rider was just pushed out of bronze medal spot in the Freestyle Championship by Denmark's Anna Kasprzak (Blue Hors Future Cup) while Lutkemeier and Rothenberger again took gold and silver respectively.
JUNIORS
Germany's Junior Team Champions were Florine Kienbaum (Good Morning M) who achieved a mark of 70.649%, Charlott-Maria Schurmann (World of Dreams) 73.459%, Sophie Holkenbrink (Show Star) 70.649% and Jill de Ridder (Charmeur) 71.73)%. The Dutch silver medallists were close behind and once again Denmark took team bronze, but Germany's Schurmann and World of Dreams reigned supreme in both the Junior Individual and Freestyle - recording a tremendous score of 78.300% in the latter.
Danielle Houtvast, who is a pupil of Leida Collins-Strijk, produced the best result of the Dutch silver-medal-winning Junior team but had to settle for bronze in both the Individual and Freestyle Junior Championships when Denmark's Catherine Dufour and Atterupgaards Cassidy truly rose to the occasion to claim silver in both events. At just seven years old, Atterupgaards Cassidy was one of the most exciting horses at these Championships and underlined the growing confidence and proficiency of Danish dressage.
QUOTES:
Three times gold medalist Fabienne Lütkemeier, trained by her mother Gina Capellmann-Lütkemeier: “My first goal for this year was to finish my school exams and my second to do the best I could at these Championships. I am very happy with my results and have no goals left now at the moment. For next year I am planning to make the step forward to Grand Prix with the same horse D’Agostino.”
Silver winning Young Rider Sanneke Rothenberger relied a great deal on her mother Gonnelien Rothenberger-Gordijn. “My mother helps me every day and spends a lot of time with me training and at shows, while my father Sven keeps an eye on things over the weekends - in fact he is quite nervous at shows”, Sanneke commented smiling.
Bronze medalist individual YR Danielle van Mierlo: “I have always dreamed of competing at the European Championships for Young Riders. So just to be here was already a dream come through. In the team competition I rode a personal best. In the individual competition I rode another personal best. It could not have been any better!”
Charlotte-Maria Schürmann, gold medalist Juniors showing World of Dreams, a 17 year old stallion owned by Guido Klatte: “The owner gave me the ride on World of Dreams in 2007. It took a while to get used to him, but 2010 might be my year!”.
Chairman of the judges Young Riders, Great Britain's Andrew Gardiner: ”We have seen beautiful horses and very solid riding. The highlight of the medal winning Young Riders in general was their consistency. They impressed by the pureness of the paces and a wonderful quality and expression. It was a pleasure to judge!”
Chairman of the judges Freestyle Young Riders and member of the Dressage Task Force Katrina Wüst: “We are often talking about the big Grand Prix horses in the sport of dressage and what they mean for the growth and quality of our sport, but the sport for Juniors and Young Riders has made an immense step forward! I judged them in Portugal in 2008 and again now and it’s wonderful to see that good horses and good riding push the dressage as a sport as much forward at Junior and Young Riders level as happened to the Seniors.”
Host Ann Kathrin Linsenhoff: “In my days sports at the Juniors and Young Riders age group was only small, nowadays it is huge. I am very happy to have received talented young dressage riders from all over Europe as our guests. My family and I feel privileged to be able to pursue the tradition that my mother Liselott Linsenhoff started as promoter and patron of young dressage riders. I had my mother as a role model. We are happy to give something back to the sport which has given so much to us. And I was very moved to receive a picture of all nations gathered here as a thank you to me and my family.”
FACTS AND FIGURES:
- Eighteen nations competed including Austria, Belgium, Belarus, Denmark, Spain, France, Great-Britain, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, The Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Switzerland, Sweden and Turkey.
- Youngest competitor: 14 year old Russian Natalia Berezhnaya, showing the 13 year old mare Nikita to win on the first day of the individual Junior competition and in the end finishing at 18 th position (66,947%)
- Oldest horse: 20 year old stallion Incredible, shown by Michelle van Lanen in the Dutch silver medal winning Young Rider team. Incredible won his twelfth European medal in Kronberg. He won his first medal - team gold - in 1998 at Hickstead when ridden by his owner Annemiek van der Vorm.

Russian rider steals a march in HSBC FEI World Cup™ Eventing
FEI PRESS RELEASE
26 July 2010
Russian rider steals a march in HSBC FEI World Cup™ Eventing
Riders from the U.S. and Eastern Europe have rocketed up the HSBC FEI World Cup™ rankings following competitions at Kalispell (USA) and Minsk (BLR) this weekend.
Karen O’Connor (USA) shoots into equal 10th place with just three events to go after a convincing victory at Rebecca Farm in Kalispell, Montana.
Her mount, Mandiba, travelled to the 2008 Olympics as a relative novice; now, with the FEI Alltech World Equestrian Games™ on home territory approaching, the Irish-bred gelding looks the finished package after leading from flagfall to finish on his Dressage score.
“I’m delighted,” said O’Connor. “Mandiba has really matured. He’s become very confirmed in his flatwork and a lot of fun to ride. I was feeling the fruition of a lot of work this weekend.”
Buck Davidson (USA), who climbed from sixth to second on My Boy Bobby, and Phillip Dutton, who dropped a place to third after an unfortunate Jumping round on Truluck, headed a record contingent bringing 18 horses from the East Coast, the first time horses have flown here since 1962.
All were full of praise for the organisation and ground conditions at Rebecca Broussard’s 640-acre estate in the foothills of the Salish Mountains. Davidson said he had fulfilled two ambitions – to compete at the western venue of Kalispell and to see a grizzly bear!
Mara Dean (USA), who withdrew High Patriot when fourth after Cross-Country, summed up: “This is comparable to what you would see in Europe and on the best of the East Coast. It’s amazing to go into town and everyone knows who you are.”
There were 28 starters on Capt Mark Phillips’s revamped Cross-Country course, which included a new keyhole fence into water, and 23 completed with 20 clear rounds. 19 finished the competition.
Results
1 Karen O’Connor/Mandiba (USA) 44.2 + 0 + 0 = 44.2
2 Buck Davidson/My Boy Bobby (USA) 51.2 + 5.2 + 0 = 56.4
3 Phillip Dutton/Truluck (USA) 45.8 + 0 + 16 = 61.8
4 Hawley Bennett/Gin ‘N Juice (CAN) 49.6 + 6 + 8 = 63.6
5 Sharon White/Rafferty’s Rules (USA) 58.6 + 2 + 4 = 64.6
6 Phillip Dutton/Inmidair (USA) 54.6 + 2 + 8 = 64.6
Full results on www.eventatrfarm.com
The HSBC FEI World Cup™ event at Minsk attracted 19 horses from Belarus, Russia and the Ukraine and produced a home win for Viachaslau Poita (BLR), who was successful here in 2008, riding the 14-year-old Trakehner stallion Arbat.
He rose to the top spot after Alena Tselipaushkina (BLR), the only rider to achieve the optimum Cross-Country time, had four fences down in the Jumping phase on Passat and dropped to fourth.
However, Russian rider Alexey Korshunov gained the most HSBC FEI World Cup™ points – he was second on Gavot and fifth on Fort and has leapt into sixth place in the standings.
A total of 14 horses completed the Cross-Country with 10 clear rounds and 10 completed the event, which, said Technical Delegate Andy Griffiths (GBR), was “a great competition”.
Results
1 Viachaslau Poita/Arbat (BLR) 55.6 + 0.8 + 8 = 64.4
2 Alexey Korshunov/Gavot (RUS) 63.8 + 3.6 + 4 = 71.4
3 Aliaksandr Faminou/Gorlinka (BLR) 551.6 + 8.4 + 12 = 72
4 Alena Tselipushkina/Passat (BLR) 52.8 + 0 + 20 = 78.8
5 Alexey Korshunov/Fort (RUS) 61.2 + 13.6 + 4 = 78.8
6 Mykhailo Nastenko/Lankaster (UKR) 62 + 14.4 + 4 = 80.4

Susan Seipel and Larundel Gelata
Keran Ainslie, Monday, 26 July 2010 Susan Seipel with Larundel Gelata are selected to represent Australia as individuals at WEG.
Qld Para Equestrian, Susan Seipel, Selected for WEG!
Para Equestrian Team Selection Event for the World Equestrian Games
A Report from Queensland’s, Susan Seipel
The Equestrian Australia Para Equestrian Team Selection Event for the World Equestrian Games (WEG) was held in conjunction with the 2010 Brighton Saddleworld Dressage NSW Young Rider Championships, at the Sydney International Equestrian Centre at Horsley Park. The event was supported by the Australian Paralympic Committee and the Australian Sports Commission, and included four days of dressage action from Thursday July 15th to Sunday July 18th.
The Sydney equestrian centre is a very horse-friendly venue which was purposely built 10 years ago to host the Olympic Equestrian events. Larundel Gelata travelled well and was right at home in the new surroundings. Susan and her team of helpers included; her mum Cecily as carer, horse groom Skye Knights, coach Matty Sormani, and team chef Pauline Wallace.
Friday was the first day of Para Equestrian competition with the Team Test for all grades conducted in the outside arena. Luckily the conditions were excellent, a glorious sunny winter’s day. Susan and Larundel Gelata pulled out a solid test to score 70%, but it was only good enough for second place to the very consistent partnership of Nicole Kullen and Nikshar Nomination who achieved the highest score of the day with 74%. Another notable performance was by fellow Queensland rider Georgia Bruce and her horse Larundel Gameboy (Gelata’s half brother) who won the Grade 4 Team Test with a score of 68%.
The next day, the weather was again perfect for the Individual Championship Test which was held in the outside arena. The Championships Test has a higher degree of difficulty than the Team Test which resulted in lower percentages for all grades. There are five grades of competition in Para Equestrian, which are based not on riding ability or the training level of the horse, but on the extent of the riders’ disability. The tests in each grade are designed to challenge the rider and horse combination and make the competition within grades as fair as possible. Larundel Gelata was nicely forward for Susan in her test and despite a disruption from the judge who accidently read the test wrong they performed well. Results were close with Susan on 67%, only 2% behind the winner.
Susan and Larundel Gelata were the final combination of the event on the last day of competition for the Freestyle to Music Test. The indoor arena looked spectacular, and a crowd had accumulated throughout the day. Larundel Gelata was looking fabulous in the warm-up and the test was perfectly timed to The Can Can music. The crowd cheered after the final halt and Susan was very pleased with the performance. Again the paired placed second to a more experienced combination, but she was thrilled with the scores. Two judges had them ahead for artistic presentation, one giving a total of 79%. Overall they scored 72% and have more improvement to come.
At the conclusion of the day, the presentations for overall grade champions were awarded. Susan and Larundel Gelata were presented the Reserve Champions in Grade 1B.
The final announcement was the riders who had been selected to represent Australia in Kentucky at the 2010 World Equestrian Games. The team will be Nicole Kullen and Nikshar Nomination from NSW in Grade 1B, Grace Bowman and Kirby Park Joy from SA in Grade 2, Sharon Jarvis and Applewood Odorado from WA in Grade 3, and Kate Doughty and Heatherton Park Al Capone from VIC in Grade 4. And Susan Seipel with Larundel Gelata are selected to represent Australia as individuals.
Susan and her team are absolutely ecstatic over her selection and so proud to have been given the chance to take on the rest of world. The World Equestrian Games are comprised of the World Championships for eight equestrian sports; dressage, driving, endurance, eventing, jumping, reining, vaulting and for the first time in history para dressage. The Games are held every four years and governed by the Federation Equestre International (FEI). WEG 2010 will be held from September 25th to October 10th with the Para Equestrian events on October 5th-9th.
Susan would like to THANK her team for their support!!! She could not have done it without them. Also, she would like to congratulate the Australian Team riders on their selection. And finally, another huge THANK YOU to her sponsors; Giddy Up Girl, Heritage Downs, Larundel Warmblood Stud, 2XU, Menora Stud, The McIntyre Centre, Paul Seipel Photography, and her supporters and friends, whom have all helped to make her dream come true!
Susan is looking forward to her WEG campaign but needs major funding to get her horse to America or she will not be able to attend. If you can help please contact her: susan_seipel@hotmail.com

Updated SaddlerySales.com Leader Board...Queensland Horses dominate 1.40m TDSJC State Title Grand PrixQueensland Horses dominate 1.40m TDSJC State Title Grand Prix
The Toowoomba main arena was certainly not at its best, however Sunday saw an improvement from the very slippery surface which had tested horse & rider alike on Friday.
Thirty horses from four states started in the first round. David Shepherd from Victoria built a testing 1.40 plus track which saw ten horses jump clean, seven of which were Queensland horses. The jump off track measured around 1.50m. The very well presented Warrego Sandon & Robert Goodwin jumped a slick round in 43.85 sec giving them a super win & the $800 cheque.
There was just a mere second dividing the next three placings with Victorian Brook Dobbin & the Qld bred Advisor in 2nd in a time of 44.67 sec, It’s Ritchie & Robert Moffatt 45.41 sec third & 4th Dark Ages & Clem Smith 45.68 sec.
The 2008 & 2009 GP HOY 'Dark Age's still leads the 2010 SaddlerySales.com Grand Prix Horse of the Year Leader Board series with 42 points and Cheezy Z still in second now on 34 points.
Round 10 is next week's Toowoomba World Cup. View the current Leader Board standings HERE

2010 Equestrian Queensland Demographic Survey2010 Equestrian Queensland Demographic Survey
Equestrian Qld is working closely with the mainstream media and an increasing number of corporations with the aim to develop a stronger profile for Equestrian sports in Queensland, providing us the opportunity to grow our total sport and discover new opportunities in terms of partnerships and support.
To assist this programme, an understanding of the demographics of our equestrian communities is essential if we are to impress upon future partners the depth and significance of who and what we represent in terms of consumerism and expenditure across a number of key areas..
The development of a series of survey questions on demographic characteristics of our Queensland equestrian community has been produced which will assist our ongoing relationship development with both the mainstream media and the attraction to potential corporate partnerships and sponsorships.
Please take a few minutes to complete this survey, the results of which will display the magnitude of our diverse community and at the same time, provide us the opportunity in increasing the public profile of Equestrian Sport.
The Survey Form is HERE
NOTE: This survey is for all equestrians in Qld and we invite the participation of all interested participants, both EQ members and non-members.
Please return your completed survey to Equestrian Qld via scan/email, fax or post.

FEI EUROPEAN JUMPING CHAMPIONSHIPS FOR YOUNG RIDERS, JUNIORS AND CHILDREN
FEI EUROPEAN JUMPING CHAMPIONSHIPS FOR YOUNG RIDERS, JUNIORS AND CHILDREN

DOUBLE GOLD FOR GERMANY AT JARDY
Germany boasts many of the best riders in the world and the new generation, competing at Haras de Jardy (Marnes la Coquette) over the last week, showed that they are more than ready to step into the big boots of their senior counterparts. The venue, just outside Paris in France, hosted the 2010 FEI Children on Horses, Junior and Young Rider European Jumping Championships from 13 to 18 July and Germany took team gold in Juniors and Young Riders while Great Britain claimed the Children’s team title.
Sweden’s Douglas Lindelow claimed the Young Riders individual title while Belgium’s Olivier Philippaerts was crowned Junior champion and Tressy Muhr of France earned the Childrens individual trophy.
Children on Horses – British Reign Supreme British youngsters sprang a surprise in the Childrens Team Championship. The four riders trained by Corinne Bracken, coach and leader of the three competing British teams, completed Thursday’s team challenge on a zero score to clinch gold. In silver medal position was Italy with four faults, followed by Ireland in bronze with just five while Belgium and France tied for fourth place.
The four British riders - “talented beyond their young years” according to their coach - have had little exposure during the season. They travelled abroad just once in May of this year when they won the Nations Cup in Bonheiden, Belgium. Then they competed at Children shows at home, to decide the formation of the team: Katie Robertson, Christie Pritchard, Jake Saywell and Millie Allen. Most of them have another year to go at this level but Jake Saywell, who jumped double clear in the team competition and was fourth in the final. will be upgraded to Junior level in 2011.
On Saturday, the British squad were confident about the individual final, but in the end it was dominated by French star, Tressy Muhr. This talented young lady who celebrated her 13th birthday just three weeks ago lives in the south of France and recently earned the National Pony Championship title. She could have competed in the FEI European Pony Championships this summer but instead chose the Childrens category and the decision paid off handsomely.
The British challenged strongly however and it came down to a thrilling jump-off for the individual medals. Four riders were clear throughout the whole championship and after two rounds in the final: Tressy Muhr (FR)/ Lord du Valy, Millie Allen (GBR)/Trueleva, Celine Schradick (GER)/ Contento and Jake Saywell (GBR)/ Cornelius 27. Last to go in the jump-off, Tressy Muhr produced a scorching clear in 37.77 seconds to beat Millie Allen’s time of 38.79 and with one rail down Celine Schradick of Germany took bronze while Jake Saywell’s eight faults saw him having to settle for fourth.
Juniors and Young Riders: Germany more than competitive! Friday’s Young Riders Team Championship turned into a monumental battle. Four teams were chasing the medals after the first round: Germany, Sweden, The Netherlands and France. But Germany left the rest in their wake with three superb second-round clears to complete on a total of 5 faults. Sweden registered 12 faults to clinch silver and then it fell to Holland’s Ruben Romp to decide the fate of team bronze with France and The Netherlands still very much in the race. Ruben refused to crack under pressure however, and his clear round from Cobos snatched The Netherlands' place on the podium by a single-point margin.
On Sunday, Germany added two individual medals to its tally thanks to Katrin Eckermann/ Carlson 46, who took silver and Andras Kreuzer/Jumex Sport Atlantus who took bronze. Even though they both jumped clear however they couldn’t better the final score of Sweden’s Douglas Lindelow whose score of 0.50 left him beyond reach of all others. He had a full three-point advantage over Katrin Eckermann and never faltered. Lindelow is a National Swedish Champion, winner of the Senior Indoor National Championship and of the 2009 National Young Rider title. He has been riding the mare Taline for over two years and the 19 year old was overcome with joy, breaking into tears as he held his cup in the air.
Dietmer Gugler, the German coach, was emotional too after these victories and the Juniors’ success in the team championship. It was his last season as a coach for Children, Juniors and Young Riders and he said he was happy: “It is really difficult to win the European Championships, there are always five or six teams able to win. My riders did very well, maybe they want to offer me a present!”, he joked. The Junior team gold medals were harder won than the Young Riders’ ones however. The Netherlands and Germany were clear after two rounds and jumped off to decide which country would take gold. Here again, the three German riders were foot-perfect while the Dutch team faulted and had to settle for silver.
With five faults, Belgium climbed up the third step of the Junior Team championship podium. In this team was a young man who has been waiting for his moment of glory - Olivier Philippaerts, 16 year old son of Belgian star Ludo Philippaerts. During this entire season Olivier showed he was a serious challenger, particularly when he was part of the winning Nations Cup team at Reims in France where he also claimed the Grand Prix title at the end of May with the same mare, Carisma. He claimed Junior gold after a jump-off against Denmark’s Camille Ernst who was very unlucky when hitting the final fence. The Netherlands’ Stefani Van Den Brink claimed bronze ahead of Germany’s Maurice Tebbel.

Federer No. 1 (not the tennis player!)A stunning double clear round gives Carly Overton and Federer victory in the Futurity at Gatton Show. This takes them to the top of the Aitkens Series leader board.
This is the third change of leader in as many rounds, proof that this series won’t be over until the last fence is jumped.
In second place on the leaderboard at the beginning of the show, Chloe Hughes was trying to reclaim the series lead, but buckled under the pressure having the last fence of the jump-off down, coming in fifth as the fastest 4 faulter.
Double clear rounds payed off for Anthony Murray and Billy Raymont who came second and third respectively.

Gatton Show Results and Wrap Up
I would like to firstly thank all of our Sponsor’s big and small with your generosity this year our jumping program looked pretty special.
Thanks also to our ever efficient Judge Avril Hawthorne who put in two really big days with the help of the super pencillor’s Ruth Sedger and Vicki Townson.
Course Designer Paul Raymont not only built but also delivered the jumping equipment from the Sunshine Coast Jump Club which was really appreciated.
Paul’s tracks were tough but rideable with double clears being rewarded with a placing in the majority of the classes. Gate Marshall Helen Hall also worked tirelessly with the big numbers, Thanks to all the volunteers that helped pick up rails and put the gear away it certainly helped us get through our big program and finally thanks to our Ringmaster Jan Emerson for her support and help in making all the changes possible .
The jumping surface was much improved from previous years with the arena being aerated three times and watered before the show. Nominations were high with most classes having 50 plus fields. Congratulations to all the Winners and Grinners and thanks to all the good sports.
The first day of the show saw a few mishaps in the Main Arena with the cattle jumping through the fence from the Camp draft into the practice fence. This caused a fair bit of drama with the Under 13 riders and their parents. It was lucky nobody got hurt and we all got a pretty big laugh about it over the course of the day.
The Ride and Drive Event which is part of the night program also saw a bit of drama. One of the speed cars carrying Young Rider Lincoln Glasby rolled over with the driver and Lincoln both got trapped in the car, once again nobody got hurt. The crowd went wild and Lincoln came out of it bit of a Legend but I think it will take a while for his Mum to get over it.
The $750.00 Gatton Taxi’s Leading Horse was awarded to the Courtice Family’s Kalandra ridden by Billy Raymont who won on a count back from Smith & Bruggeman’s Guru ridden by Clem Smith.

Stubben SEQ Soft Touch Spur
Liz Buchanan, Tuesday, 4 May 2010 there has been talk about the legality of these spurs for x/c and show-jumping for (because of the “Rowel”), some time however after Chris Wallis (Eventing Steward General - AUS) discussion with Catrin Norinder at Rolex recently it was decided that riders WOULD BE PERMITTED to use these spurs during x/c and show-jumping until advised otherwise.

FEI Clean Sport
Franz Venhaus, Equestrian Australia National, Tuesday, 30 March 2010 As indicated in earlier news, from 05 April 2010 participants in FEI events (CIs) will need to keep a medication logbook for their horses.
Medication Logbooks required to be kept by all FEI ridersMedication Log Books are required to be maintained for all horses entered into competitions under FEI rules from the 5th April 2010. Regulatory bodies in other parts of horse sport have required such log books for some time. The purpose is to enable Persons Responsible to maintain a record a what substances from the FEI Equine Prohibited Substances List have been administered to a horse. Using this record will focus attention on what active substances are being administered and also act as evidence should an FEI tribunal wish to examine the Log Book as part on the investigation into the detection of a prohibited substance at an FEI event.
The format of the logbook might chage over time but riders can download an Equestrian Australia version from our web, print it on A4 papers, staple the pages and keep the set in their FEI Horse Passport or our National Indentification Document.
The FEI is currently investigating the possibility of establishing some method of linking such a Log Book to the registration process of FEI horses; however, the essential basis of what is required by this Regulation change is a record of the medications given from the FEI Equine Prohibited Substances List.
Participants with horses competing in National events are encouraged to use the logbook as well.
Download an Equestrian Australia version of the Logbook
Background:
The 2009 FEI General Assembly agreed to a series of measures as part of the Clean Sport initiative. These measures are designed to increase the clarity around many areas of equestrian sport in order to ensure that the integrity of our sport is maintained now and in the future. Clean Sport measures have a focus on, but are not restricted to, the reduction of positive doping and medication cases, whether deliberate or unintended.
The measures required are reflected in the FEI Equine Anti-Doping and Controlled Medication Regulations and the FEI Veterinary Regulations. These measures will start to come into play from the 5th April 2010. Equestrian Australia was mirrored these provision. DEEDI Queensland Primary Industries media release, Monday, 16 November 2009 Following a recent breach involving a competition horse moving through cattle tick zones, Biosecurity Queensland is reminding all stock owners operating under the Competition Stock Owner Treatment Scheme (CSOTS) to comply with the requirements.
Check your responsibilities for travelling competition horsesBiosecurity Queensland's senior inspector Iain Purvis said the approval of a horse owner to participate in the CSOTS was cancelled for two years because a horse was not properly treated for ticks when travelling from the Queensland cattle tick Infected Zone.
“Concessional schemes, such as CSOTS, have been in operation for more than 10 years and provide owners of competition stock, including horses, an alternative to normal tick line clearance,” he said.
“These schemes allow stock owners situated in the cattle tick Free Zone to travel to competitions in the cattle tick Infected Zone and return home as long as stock are treated prior to return or upon return to their property of origin.
“Before becoming eligible, stock owners must complete an Instruction and Awareness course.
“They must also comply with the conditions of approval, including the requirement to possess a valid livestock travel permit and waybill for the movement.
“If a person fails to comply with requirements for movement from the cattle tick Infected Zone or fails to comply with conditions of approval, the approval will be cancelled.
“They cannot apply for readmission to any concessional scheme for two years, which means they must present competition horses at clearing centres, such as Helidon, at a pre-arranged time for clearance when returning from competitions.”
For more information about concessional schemes contact your local Biosecurity Queensland office, visit www.dpi.qld.gov.au or contact the Business Information Centre on 13 25 23.

Liz Buchanan, Tuesday, 10 February 2009 As per EA General Regulations
All NEW Horses being Registered with EA must be MicrochippedAs per EA General Regulations introduced in January 2008, horses to be registered after 01 July 2008 (for the first time) will need to be microchipped with chips that meet Australian Standards 5018/5019. From July 2011, all horses participating in "official" competition will need to be microchipped. We will encourage event organisers to arrange for microchipping sessions at some of their events to make the process more cost-effective for members. You may know that it has been compulsory for a number of years to microchip Thoroughbreds and that at least in NSW and Queensland, thousands of horses were microchipped when being vaccinated during the recent EI outbreak.
